What are the rules at the cemetery?

Valley View Lutheran Cemetery is managed by an association of people in the community. We have made rules to both protect the safety of our caretakers, and preserve the land that we manage. We ask that you only use real flowers and floral arrangements. Plastic and silk flowers do not decompose, and blow around in the wind, creating debris that our caretakers have to dispose of. Natural flowers decompose into the land and give nutrients to the grass and soil around them. We ask that you do not place glass vases on or around the headstones. These can tip over and shatter, causing a safety hazard to our caretakers when they are mowing and edging around the stones. We ask that you pick up after your pets. It is your responsibility as a pet owner to pick up your pets waste. We do not allow any use of alcohol or drugs on our property. If you see something, please report it to the local police department. The non-emergency line is 503-873-5326. Thank you! Finally, we ask that you do not leave items that are of worth or sentimental meaning on or around the headstones. We do not have the ability to monitor these items, and you are doing so at the risk of losing them. We have a gate that is open from dusk until dawn, but it is not theft-proof. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
